In this project we were asked to work with the clay maquette that had been modelled by the sculptor. This clay bust was scanned and and then reproduced by our digital stone carving robot in York stone. The bust was left deliberately ‘rough’ (as can be seen in the third picture) and the sculptor finished the carving by hand. As can be shown here, our stone carving robot can be used for a variety of project styles.
