6 products you should never clean your natural stone with (even when DIY-recipes say you can).

Natural stone is a wonderful investment because of its durability but unfortunately, it’s not indestructible.

Using harmful products or overlooking maintenance might risk damaging your beautiful stone.

Although the internet is full of DIY-cleaning products recipes, we advise you to click away as fast as you can. What are some products to avoid?

  • Vinegar
  • Bleach
  • Lemon
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Baking soda
  • Acetone

Depending on the density of the stone these products might break down your sealers, or even worse, etch or burn your natural stone. It is important to use cleaning products that have the right pH level, 7 neutral. Luckily there are some products on the market that are safe to use. We advise using the products by Rob Parker’s Best. They have been scientifically developed to address the care and maintenance of all stone.

At Stoneworld we care about the afterlife of the products you buy from us. Like you, we want it to look great for years to come. If you have any questions about stone care, do not hesitate to contact us as we are always happy to help.
