We will be closed from 3rd to 6th April and will return to normal opening hours on 7th April.

Pool Corners

Stoneworld fabricates internal and external corners in both natural stone and porcelain, matching the geometry, thickness and edge profiles of the adjoining copings. Corner units can be produced as mitred assemblies or as single piece radius sections, depending on material and design preference. This ensures that the visible joints are controlled and that edges feel consistent when entering or exiting the pool at corners. By manufacturing corners alongside the main coping run, we can keep colour, texture and profiling uniform across the entire perimeter.

Why are dedicated pool corner units important?

Using purpose made corner units avoids the compromises that come from cutting standard copings on site, such as uneven joints, exposed edges or inconsistent radii. It also reduces time and risk during installation, as the geometry has already been resolved and tested in the workshop. For deck level or overflow pools, corner pieces can incorporate the same channels and profiles as straight sections, maintaining hydraulic performance around the full circuit.

Options for natural stone and porcelain corners

Natural stone corners can be created with bullnose or pencil rolled profiles, with the chosen stone and finish aligned to the main coping run. Porcelain corners can be factory finished or waterjet cut from matching tiles, then profiled to suit. In both cases, we work from drawings or digital templates to match internal and external radii, pool steps and any adjoining features, such as cover pits or in pool benches that intersect with corners.

Technical considerations for corner detailing

Corner detailing must account for tolerances, expansion and drainage while providing safe, comfortable edges. This includes ensuring the underside of corner units is properly supported and that joints do not concentrate stress in small areas. Careful coordination with the pool builder helps determine whether corners should be set out as true radii, segmented angles or mitred returns, and how they connect to channels or gratings in deck level systems.

  • Are radius corners stronger than mitred assemblies?

Onepiece radius corners remove a joint from the most exposed edge, but suitability also depends on stone type, thickness and supportthis is usually agreed with the pool contractor.

  • Can corner units incorporate drainage channels in decklevel pools?

Yes, in multipiece decklevel systems, corner units can be fabricated to continue channels and grilles through changes of direction.
