Delivery is priced on where the material is going and how it is best carried. Here are the two options we use, what each costs, how quickly they arrive, and why the cheapest is not always the one we recommend.
Every order is different, so delivery is priced on where it is going and how it is best carried. There are two routes: our own Stoneworld lorries, or Palletways, a third party pallet courier.
Two things drive the spread. The first is distance. We deliver anywhere from the north of Scotland to Wales, down to the bottom of Cornwall, across to Guernsey and Jersey, and abroad as well. The further the material travels, the more the delivery costs.
The second is how each service is charged. Palletways is priced per pallet. Stoneworld delivery is priced per lorry load. That is why the pallet figures look cheaper at first glance: you are comparing one pallet against a whole vehicle.
Say you want a single pallet delivered to Bournemouth:
For one pallet going that distance, the courier is clearly the sensible choice. Fill the lorry with a larger order and the maths changes.
Cost is not the only consideration. Pallet networks move a lot of freight, and once a pallet is in that system the handling is out of our hands. We pack carefully and label fragile, but we cannot control what happens at every depot along the way.
So for anything bespoke, cut to size, or otherwise difficult to replace, we will usually recommend our own delivery even though it costs more. Getting the material to you intact matters more than saving a few pounds on carriage.
With every delivery we pick the option that is the most suitable and the most cost effective for that particular order, and we will always explain why.
Because the price depends on your postcode, the size of the order and what the material is, the only reliable figure is the one on your quotation. Send us the delivery address and what you are ordering, and we will price the options and tell you which we would use.
